Winter Session 2025: Tuesday PM w/Tessa
Wheel Throwing for Beginners and Returning Students with Tessa Burrell
Service Description
Classes are 8-week sessions. Students are allowed 5 hours of lab time during the week. One 25lb. bag of clay is included. Beginning students will learn fundamentals of wheel throwing, such as wedging, centering, throwing, trimming & glazing. Returning students will work on advancing their skills. “Born and raised in Fort Collins, Tessa has always had a passion for the fine arts. While two dimensional art was her first love, she couldn’t resist the challenge that throwing on the wheel provided. She joined Northern Colorado Potter’s Guild shortly after being introduced to throwing in high school and has now been a member for 10 years. Over that time she has developed an art style that gravitates towards geometric forms and high contrast glazes. Tessa also has a passion for teaching, instructing night classes at the guild. She introduces her students to adding detail to their pieces using methods such as underglaze, sgraffito, and slip trailing. However, her favorite part of teaching is helping them create their best forms with ease by focusing on the techniques used while throwing. Tessa loves to get both new and returning potters’ hands in some clay so they can take home pieces they’ll be proud of!”
