Classes and Workshops

ABOUT OUR CLASSES

The Northern Colorado Potters’ Guild offers adult wheel-throwing and hand-building classes for all skill levels. On occasion, we offer special workshops. Students must be 18 years or older to register for our classes.

All guild classes are on Tuesdays or Thursdays unless otherwise noted. Most classes are 8-week sessions; some are shorter.

Beginning students will learn fundamentals, such as centering, throwing, trimming & glazing. Intermediate/Advanced students will continue to develop their acquired skills and begin to refine their work. Techniques may include such things as creating lidded forms, altering forms, and more.

Classes include one 25-pound bag of clay and all glaze/firing charges. Only guild clay may be used - no outside clay is allowed. With instructor approval, one additional bag of clay may be purchased for $40, which includes glaze/firing charges.

While some communal tools are available in the classroom, we recommend that you invest in your own tools. You may purchase a tool kit from the Guild when registering for a class.

Students may take advantage of lab hours (up to 5 hours per week) to continue work on their class projects. We offer these open studio hours on Wednesday evenings 6-8:30 PM and Friday mornings 9-11:30 AM. A guild member must be present while non-members
