**To purchase a took kit, select 'add to cart' when booking your class** Take your pots to the next level! We’ll explore advanced techniques for creating a variety of vase and bowl shapes, including elegant curves and intricate forms. You’ll learn to strategically plan your approach, master wheel speed, and manage clay thickness while crafting larger pieces. Key topics include collaring, advanced shaping, trimming methods, creative piercing, and stacking techniques to achieve impressive heights or unique forms like moon jars. This class will focus on creating taller cylinders and making tall 'stacked' pieces. To help with improvement, pieces on the wheel will often be cut in half to inspect the walls Along with some skills on making our pots bigger and better, we will also be taking the time to focus on surfaces! We will talk about slips, underglazes, washes, sodium silicate and other methods of glazing. Bring your ideas and challenges for personalized guidance from our instructor. Prerequisite: Comfortable throwing a 2-pound cylinder Tools Needed: Throwing Tool Kit (Add to cart when registering) INSTRUCTOR BIOGRAPHY: Suzanne Fling, Co-Owner of Flingin Pots with her husband, holds a Masters in Education and has been teaching ceramics for 20+ years.
