Service Description

Artist Talk and Presentation - Friday, May 23 @ 6pm at Poudre Fire Authority, 102 Remington St, Fort Collins, CO 80524 Workshop Activities - Saturday, May 24 & Sunday, May 25, 9am-5pm (time subject to change) Location: Smokestack Pottery at 119 E Lincoln Ave, Fort Collins, CO 80524 Experience the excitement and spontaneity of smoke firing. We will build a simple sawdust kiln and learn to create pots with a primal elegance. Three distinct firing methods will occur: -24 hour slow burning sawdust fire for smoked atmospheric magic; -5 minute “paint with fire” process using various resists; -foil saggar, to capture a consistent gray and black undertone to contrast with colorful surface work. Dry Burnishing and the application and use of terra sigillata will be demonstrated. Cancellation/Refund Policy is as follows: Cancellations 21 days or more to the start of the session will receive a full refund of workshop fee. Cancellations between 20 and 15 days prior to the start of the session will receive a 50% refund of workshop fee. All others will forfeit their registration fees. No refunds available for any bisqueware ordered directly from Paula Shalan.
